Summary/Objective

The Special Procedures Technologist is responsible for the provision of radiological services of a highly specialized nature to patients according to physicians' orders and provides for patient safety and high quality testing. This Clinical position requires skills and experience in performing specialized testing and providing excellent patient care.  The Specials Procedures Technologist must support the mission of providing Sacred Work to all who enter the doors of Baptist Hospitals of Southeast Texas.

Essential Job Duties

  1. Proficiently provides and assists radiologist in Interventional procedures such as angiography, embolization, drains, line placements, etc. Selects and prepares appropriate catheters, guidewires, etc. used in the performance of interventional exams. Possesses specialized knowledge in sterilization techniques and procedures. Utilizes knowledge of Infection Control procedures.
  2. Correctly and appropriately performs data entry into PACS/RIS systems. Identifies patients per policy/procedure prior to any intervention and documents Final Timeouts. Participates in patient education, prepping of patient and exam scheduling.

  4. Participates in QC/PI Activities.
  5. Possesses basic knowledge of protocols as they relate to the provision of CT and US assisted biopsies.
  6. Participates in Clinical oversight of student trainees.

Required Education and Experience

Graduate from an accredited school of Radiologic Technology.

Required License/Certifications

Current certification with American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) within 90 days

Must be licensed by the Texas Medical Board (TMB)

Basic Life Support certification (BLS) within 90 days
