General Purpose and Summary of Job: The Pump Truck Operator operates the equipment necessary to provide the services of the Excavation/Industrial Division. This position will also inspect equipment, structures, and material in order to ensure that they are safe and functional, The Pump Truck Operator will set up and dismantle the tool, fill the water tank, inspect the job site and operate the high-pressure wand for excavation purposes.
Essential Functions of Job:
1. Essential functions of the job will include the transportation and efficient operation of company provided equipment such as the tank, hydro-vac, jet-vac trucks, and dump trucks with emphasis placed on site safety, personal safety and equipment maintenance. Duties will include:
a. Possess very good customer service skills – greet & interact, meet or exceed customer expectations. Effectively present information to customers or other employees
b. Confirm all supplies and tools are in good condition and are on the truck
c. Pumping grease traps
d. Pumping septic tanks
e. Hydro-Vac digging and excavation
f. Jet-Vac operation to clear sewers and storm drains
g. Hauling of equipment such as track hoes and back hoes
h. Daily and proper completion of service tickets
i. Daily completion of DOT vehicle maintenance reports
j. Maintaining proper disposal and manifest records, ensuring compliance with state DOT regulations
k. Other duties as assigned
2. This position demands a flexible work schedule that may include night work, on-call shifts, daily and weekly overtime and weekend. This position may also include work being performed in all types of inclement weather and extreme weather conditions.
Pay Range:
• $22.00-30.00 per hour, based on experience

Requirements
Qualifications/Basic Job Requirements:
1. Must be at least 18 years of age.
2. Must be a High School graduate or have a certificate of equivalency.
3. Possession of a Class A commercial driver’s license.
2. The ability to pass both routine company random drug and alcohol tests and also those random drug and alcohol tests required for CDL drivers per DOT standards.
3. Thorough knowledge of all phases of job safety relative to industrial work and equipment used in industrial applications:
a. Safe driving techniques
b. Safe traffic control in work areas
c. Confined space entry procedures
d. Trench safety
e. Safe excavation when using the hydro-vac around utilities
f. Safe use of water hoses under pressure
g. Safe use of vacuum hoses and tubing under vacuum
h. Attendance at any safety classes per management requests
4. Must maintain accurate records to aid in billing of job invoices and appropriate information retention for company job site records.

Physical Requirements:
This position must be able to see, perceive color, hear/listen, touch (hand/finger dexterity) and speak clearly. Must be able to climb, mount and dismount trucks and vehicles. Must be able to drive. Must be able to push/pull, stand and sit for long periods, walk, bend at the waist, squat, crouch, and kneels. This position requires the ability to reach above shoulder level and requires repetitive use of right and left hands to grasp, push/pull and do fine manipulation. This position requires the ability to perform computer data entry, and to use the telephone and other common office equipment. Requires heavy, frequent lifting of 50 to 100 pounds at one time.
Mental/Reasoning requirements:
Must be able to read simple instructions, manuals, procedures and other documents and to write, so as to record readings, notes, simple sketches or instructions. Requires basic math skills and the ability to analyze/comprehend materials and instructions. Requires sound judgement and decision making. Must be able to read blueprints.
Work Environment:
Requires varying work hours, work outside normal business hours, frequent overtime and long hours to meet the demands of customers. May require weekend word. May require Sunday work or work on holidays. Will participate in an on-call schedule.
Must be able to work with others and/or alone, with limited or no supervision. Work will be inside and outside, subject to extreme heat and cold. The noise level of this position can be high from mechanical equipment. May require working in cramped, damp, dirty and dark areas. Will require the use of Personal Safety and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Must be able to climb and work from ladders, use hand and power tools. Work will be on sewer and drainage systems where the possibility of infection exists. Must use Lock out/Tag out procedures. May require working from under buildings, the use of respiratory protection, fall protection and excavation work. Must be able to use a shovel, electrical equipment, and pressurized equipment. Requires work around moving objects, in high places, around fumes, odors, dirt, dust and hazardous materials.

Semi-annual background checks are performed on operational personnel to meet the requirements of many of The Waterworks customers. Employees will be routinely asked to authorize background checks. Results of background checks shall be kept on file and not routinely divulged to other individuals without a need to know. Dated background checks shall be destroyed.
