Ameron Pole Products LLC is hiring a Buyer for our Fillmore, CA operation. In this role you will develop and maintain a sourcing plan, Issue purchase orders, assist in managing the supplier quality program and assist in evaluating viable alternative components or suppliers.

What you'll do:

  • Material Control:

    • Manage stock levels effectively.

    • Receive purchase orders in Oracle.
    • Conduct monthly cycle counts and reconcile inventory levels.
    • Attach identifying tags or labels to materials to ensure accurate identification.
    • Ensure proper handling of materials by reviewing work orders and completing transactions without errors.
    • Review supply and demand within ERP systems to ensure materials meet contractual requirements.
    • Regularly update safety stock levels to prevent overstocking and shortages.
    • Conduct monthly cycle counts and reconcile inventory levels.
    • Maintain inventory of wear parts.
  • Purchasing and Vendor Relations:
    • Issue purchase orders and follow up with vendors on delivery timelines.
    • Negotiate terms with suppliers and manage contracts for procurement.
    • Address discrepancies in costs, delivery dates, and other vendor-related issues.
    • Collaborate with suppliers and quality engineers to process non-conforming products.
    • Maintain safety and adherence to company policies and procedures.
  • Buying: 
    • Support daily ordering and inventory activities within the purchasing department.
    • Work with suppliers and quality engineers to address non-conforming products.
    • Identify and resolve discrepancies, such as item cost, delivery dates, and shipping locations.
    • Issue purchase orders and maintain accurate records of purchasing, pricing, and other critical data.
    • Negotiate terms with suppliers and manage contracts effectively.
    • Ensure timely delivery of items and follow up on late orders.
    • Meet with vendors to maintain strong relationships and resolve issues.

What you'll need:

  • High School Diploma is required; Associates or BA preferred. 
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting engineering drawings.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Experience negotiating and developing strategic supplier agreements.
  • Experience with logistics.
  • 5 years of experience in purchasing and supply chain logistics.
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems preferred.
  • Experience with sourcing gearing, bearing, motors, casting and other industrial components.
