What You'll Do:

Join ECS as a Geotechnical Engineering Group Manager, where you’ll lead a multi-disciplinary team working on complex subsurface investigations, geotechnical analysis, and construction materials testing (CMT). This role combines technical depth, leadership, and business management for private and public sector development projects across Texas.

 

This is a new leadership role supporting our Geotechnical department, with a strong emphasis on technical excellence, client relationships, and group-level P&L responsibility.

 

  • Provide strategic leadership and mentorship to geotechnical engineers, field professionals, and project managers across multiple concurrent infrastructure, commercial, and public works projects.

  • Oversee deep and shallow foundation analysis, slope stability evaluations, and ground improvement design using industry-standard methods and software.

  • Review and approve geotechnical engineering reports, including analysis of CPT, borings, lab testing, and slope monitoring data.

  • Deliver geotechnical design recommendations aligned with AASHTO, ASTM, TXDOT, and IBC standards.

  • Manage all operations of the geotechnical laboratory, ensuring quality assurance and efficient data turnaround.

  • Direct proposal development, scope definition, budgeting, and profitability of the department, including oversight of collections.

  • Partner closely with senior leadership on long-term strategy, resource planning, and market expansion.

  • Support recruiting, hiring, and professional development for your group; promote a culture of coaching, learning, and retention.

  • Maintain and grow client relationships through technical consultation, presentations, and project delivery excellence.

What We're Looking For:
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering with a focus in Geotechnical Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.

  • Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in the state of Texas.

  • Minimum 8 years of progressive geotechnical experience, including management of technical teams and client-facing roles.

  • Proven ability to lead complex projects involving foundations, embankments, slope stability, earth retention systems, and CMT services.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience applying geotechnical standards from AASHTO, ASTM, TXDOT, IBC, and other industry accredited authorities in design and reporting.

  • Technical expertise with CPT data interpretation, settlement analysis, liquefaction evaluation, and ground improvement techniques.

  • Familiarity with software tools such as GeoStudio, LPILE, Settle3, and gINT.

  • Strong business acumen, including prior experience with group-level financial oversight, proposal writing, and client development.

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to coach and develop early-career engineers.
