Job Summary

OPPORTUNITY The Curriculum Specialist in Secondary Science will support teachers in the implementation of the Green Dot Science Program at one or more school sites. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: > Provide teachers with instructional coaching and support to implement grade-level standards-aligned science instruction to ALL students > Implement a variety of coaching services in alignment with co-constructed coaching goals and student outcomes (co-planning, student work analysis, data analysis, co-teaching or demo lessons, guided peer observations, etc.) > Collaborate with administrators and department leaders at school sites around department goals for science instruction > Support adopted curriculum and GD science courses through the creation of supporting resources (pacing recommendations, grading guidance, assessment design, etc.) > Support the implementation of science assessments by supporting teachers and schools in analyzing the available data and planning for adjustments to instruction > Support the GD Science Safety Program and safe laboratory practices at schools through collaboration with department leaders > Work collaboratively with the Science Team, school site administration and department leaders to plan and facilitate science professional development > Engage in other duties relevant to the successful implementation of the Green Dot Science Program

QUALIFICATIONS As an ideal candidate, you: > have a passion for dramatically improving student experiences and outcomes in science and a belief in serving ALL students > have at least four years of successful teaching of science at the secondary school level (experience teaching HS Physics or HS Chemistry strongly preferred) > have a valid secondary science credential (Physics, Chemistry, Biology, or Geosciences) > have a master’s degree in education or related field (preferred) > are able to travel between the Home Office (Downtown LA) and school sites/other locations around the greater Los Angeles area > have knowledge of the Next Generation Science Standards and aligned instruction > have knowledge of differentiated classroom instructional practices that promote student academic success in science > have knowledge and understanding of the needs of a diverse student population > possess strong oral and written communication skills > are experienced in collaborative planning and delivery of differentiated staff development to classroom teachers > are dependable, humble, have a sense of humor and a rock-solid commitment to Green Dot’s mission and the communities we serve > will need to pass a TB test and background check at time of offer JOB REQUIREMENTS > Work Hours: This position requires consistent attendance during scheduled hours, as flexibility is limited by classroom or operational requirements. > Breaks: Breaks are structured within the workday and must align with operational needs and student care requirements. Extended or frequent breaks may not be feasible in this setting. > Physical Requirements: The position may require certain physical abilities, such as interacting with students, or moving through various parts of the school. > Social Requirements: The position requires extensive interaction with students, colleagues, and members of the public. > On-Site Presence: This role requires regular, in-person attendance to meet the needs of students, staff, and the school environment. COMPENSATION Salary for this position is $82,000 - $92,000, depending on experience. Opportunities for salary growth are available over time; however, offers near the upper end of the salary range are uncommon. Individual education and experience will be considered when issuing offers.
