Job Family:  Advising - CBG11

Salary: £41,042 to £44,296 per annum pro rata 

Hours: 37 hours per week  

Location:  You will be expected to attend a CBC office location, primarily Priory House, Chicksands, Shefford, as often as needed to carry out your role, which will be no less than once per month 

Contract type: Fixed Term – 12 months

About the role: 

   

Central Bedfordshire Council is a Unitary Council whose aim is to make the area a great place to live and work by enhancing infrastructure, community wellbeing, and sustainability. Pivotal to this is our Housing Service which manages and maintains more than 5,600 Council-owned homes.  

 

Technology is key to many of the developments within the Council and we are delighted to be implementing a new Housing application to help drive improvements within our Housing Service. This is an exciting Application Support Officer role to embed and develop the new application within the Housing Service at the same time as supporting channel shift and digital transformation. The Application Support Officer will also assist in sponsoring improvements around business intelligence and support revised practices within the Service through technology.  

 

The purpose of the Application Support Officer role will be: 

 

  • Maintain and develop the Housing key systems including the support and testing of interfaces between applications primarily around our newly implemented One Housing solution.  
  • Ensure the quality of any change including technical specifications and governance with the Supplier and IT are managed plus working with tenant panels, wider customers and the Housing Service to ensure functional requirements are meet and tested appropriately.  
  • Working with suppliers to manage supplier SLAs and ensure the applications are operating on the latest technology whilst driving savings through efficiencies and automation 
  • Publication and management of an application roadmap to reduce risks, manage upgrades and meet the Housing developing needs whilst putting customers at the centre of service delivery.      
  • Day to day management of the Housing application including Incident and problem management  

  

 

Your skills, experience and qualifications: 

 

We are looking for an experienced applications manager, with ITIL qualifications, who is a team player able to build relationships with both the service area and suppliers alike. Having a good grasp of communications, change processes and a great networking and coaching ability is paramount. 

 

You will have experience of the Housing Service as well as a working knowledge of the One Housing (MRI Capita) application. A knowledge of interface scripting, mapping and testing will also be useful. 

 

Your experience of working with Microsoft technologies e.g. Microsoft Power BI, Microsoft SQL servers, Integrations with Office 365 for document and emails plus SharePoint for storing and retrieving related files will be invaluable as will your project delivery experience with project qualifications such as Prince2.
