Custodial Supervisor

SUMMARY:
The Custodial Supervisor provides leadership for all Custodial Staff in accordance with all University policies, procedures and guidelines and is responsible for the overall cleanliness of the University. The Custodial Supervisor also exemplifies and upholds the Facilities Department’s mission which is to create and maintain an outstanding learning environment through constant attention to our community’s needs and thoughtful care of our beautiful campus.
JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Advocates safety for everyone on campus by identifying, reporting and addressing when appropriate
Interacts daily with diverse staff, students and faculty by providing a welcoming and positive atmosphere
Preserves the heritage and unique infrastructure of the University by striving to exceed industry cleanliness standards
Responsible for the care and upkeep of resources provided to them by the University
Responsible for scheduling assigned staff, managing time off requests and ensuring proper pay
Maintains accountability by leveraging defined operating procedures, University policies and utilizes the University’s progressive discipline process
Supervises and supports custodial related incident response, project work and special events
Invests in the development of custodial staff by providing training, mentorship, feedback, growth opportunities and performance reviews
Actively participates in developing operation initiatives and delivers department established communication
Encourages an inclusive and respectful work environment
Seeks out areas of opportunity, takes the initiative to address concerns and supervises the completion of custodial related requests
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL EFFORT:
This is a full-time exempt position that must be available to work a flexible schedule to include weekends and evenings when needed.
Must be able to lift, push and pull up to 50 pounds
Must be able to stand for long periods of time, go up and down stairs and walk for long periods
Must be able to work outdoors under adverse weather conditions including heat, rain and snow
All Facilities employees are designated as essential personnel and are subject to work outside the normal work schedule on an emergency basis and are subject to planned overtime work as required by their immediate supervisor.
Frequently required to use personal protective equipment to prevent exposure to hazardous materials
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum of a High School degree or educational equivalent required
Bachelor’s Degree preferred
Five or more years of demonstrated leadership experience in custodial or related field
Valid Driver’s License with three year driving record in good standing required
General knowledge of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Outlook
Ability to effectively communicate with listed contacts above
Required: Must have a valid Driver's License and be able to produce a driving record with a minimum of 3 years of driving history in good standing
WORK HOURS:
Full-time, exempt position
Primarily day shift (start time varies between 5am-8am), weekends occasionally; 8 hrs./day; 40 hrs./week
