Job Purpose

governmental EHS regulations, including writing programs, record keeping, reports, inspections, audits, permits,
monitoring, and testing, training and medical surveillance per guidelines.

• Responsible for coordination with local authorities to dispose hazardous materials/waste/recyclables and
performs required testing per local/corporate/regulations/requirements;
• Manage & owns incident accident reporting and investigations and/or assist with the development of root
cause corrections in those facilities with an EHS Manager;
• Develop or assist in creating metrics to track areas of improvement and provide recommendations to
management by actions plans to make sure the team is aligned with the process and deliverables to meet
the target goals;
• Responsible or assist in maintaining Progress Rail Services written Safety Program including; safety
records (ex. Safety Data Sheets - SDS) and ensures all occupational health program documentation is
available an in compliance; enters data into Safety systems, conducts audits to identify unsafe conditions,
non-compliance and hazardous conditions. Tracks or logs and follow-up on safety observations;
• Administer first aid for minor injuries as needed and refers more serious for medical care;
• Conducts New Hire Orientation, delivers safety and health training programs and distribute PPE to
employees and maintains inventory (when applicable per facility guidelines);
• Collaborates with Facility Management as needed with inventory or other duties assigned by EHS
Manager (when applicable) Plant Manager, HR Manager, and Regional EHS Manager.
Qualifications and Experience
• Demonstrated ability to communicate with internal and external customers, present and influence
credibly and effectively to all levels of the organization, including management;
• Detail oriented / sense of urgency / follow-through;
• Ability to multi-task, work independently and efficiently;
• Adapt to frequent changes in workload & priority as circumstances dictate.
Preferred Skills
• Associate Safety Professional (ASP) certified;
• 1-2 years in a safety, environmental, medical or case management role;
• Hazardous Material handling training.
