Job Description:

Stantec is looking for Lead Mechanical Engineer who can contribute to the ongoing growth of Stantec ResourceNet India Private Ltd by providing technical expertise in the area of all mechanical plant, as part of a multi-disciplinary team delivering conceptual design, outline design, detailed design and construction support for Industrial /water/ wastewater treatment/ Waste to Enengy and pumping station projects across the STANTEC offices (UK, US, Middle East, Asia Pacific etc.). To be involved in the implementation and delivery of leading-edge programs and projects.
The role also requires supporting Project Managers by providing technical expertise to ensure that project outcomes in terms of profit, schedule, technical and quality standards meet both the client and STANTEC expectations.
Person Specifications:
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical engineering
• Should have minimum experience of 14+ years execution and lead roles. Should be able to lead large multi discipline projects.
• Proven expertise in rotating equipment, pipe assemblies, and related systems within the water sector, should possess in-depth experience in the design of water, wastewater, industrial water treatment, waste-to-energy, and pumping station projects.
• Experience in leading/ mentoring a team of engineers and CAD detailers.
• Proficiency in design using North American and the United Kingdom codes.
- Familiar with industry standards such as ASME, API and BS EN codes.
- Knowledge of process and Instrumentation diagram and control philosophy with the ability to integrated mechanical system for seamless coordination across all project phases.
• Good experience of pump station sizing using analytical software like AFT Fathom and excel based tools.
• Experience in Data/ Document management system - ProjectWise, BIM360/ACC.
• Innovative and results-oriented, with the ability to generate and implement new ideas.
• Technical report writing skills
• General knowledge of construction techniques and practices, and construction management
• Capable to analyze, assess, evaluate the issues, complexity pertaining to projects / work packages and support the team lead in mitigating them in advance
• Competent level of baseline skills, i.e. professional and confident with the essential, basic business and communication skills that are required for career growth in all positions
• Rigorous attention to detail, able to understand and adopt workflows and commitment to personal professional development
• Flexible attitude to accepting different work assignments and pro-active attitude to execution / delivery
Key Accountabilities:
- Provide technical expertise in mechanical engineering across various project stages.
- Perform mechanical equipment sizing, calculations, and selection.
- Develop mechanical specifications, data sheets, schedules, reports, and other deliverables.
- Lead tasks and projects primarily in the UK and North America, with flexibility to support global regions including the Middle East, Australia, and New Zealand.
- Contribute to optioneering, outline design, detailed design, and construction support for the respective projects.
- HAZOP, ALM, and Hazardous area classification.
- Prepare mechanical plant general arrangement drawings, bills of quantities, piping layouts, and isometric drawings across project phases.
- Guiding and mentoring engineering /CAD team for quality delivery.
- Carry out other duties as may be assigned from time to time by supervisor/management.
- Actively support, develop, train, and provide guidance to staff within the mechanical engineering group. Using appropriate software to provide advice, solutions and successful project outcomes for clients.
- Working as part of a team being involved in a variety of projects to help the development of solutions to delivery improvements and enhancements to mechanical systems
- Maintain communication and develop on going contacts with clients as required.
- Complete all work in line with STANTEC Core Values and in accordance with STANTEC Quality Systems and Project Quality Procedures.
- Need to travel off-shore for training / on-site work: Occasionally.
- Need to work off-hours for client co-ordination: Occasionally.
