Summary:
The Lead Transportation Material Expediter will provide services and support to the NASA Armstrong Flight Research Center contract located at Edwards AFB , California. The Lead Transportation Material Expediter will perform duties primarily associated with SCA Labor Category Material Expediter from the SCA Directory of Occupations 5th edition.
Responsibilities:Essential Job Functions:
- Be assigned to one or more work areas to support contract Logistics Services consisting of:
- Supply and Materials Management
- Equipment Management
- Property Disposal
- Transportation Management (including shipping and fleet management)
- Mail Management
- Lead shipping and receiving duties to include warehouse support
- Perform duties found within the Performance Work Statement (PWS) Section 7, Transportation Management Operations, especially section 7.15 Freight, to support PWS Section 4, Supply and Materials Management and Section 5, Equipment Management in accordance with NASA Instructions and Technical Directives
- Leadership over entire section to include metrics and reporting, prioritization, training, scheduling, etc.
- Provide transportation services IAW 49 CFR, NPD 6000.1, Transportation Management, NPR 6000.1, Requirements for Packaging, Handling, and Transportation for Aeronautical and Space Systems, Equipment and Associated Components, NPR 6200.1, NASA Transportation and General Traffic Management, “NASA Fleet Management Handbook”
- Utilize NASA provided computer equipment and software/databases to perform required job duties
- Be familiar with NASA publications, forms, and regulations listed in the PWS and how all work activities are performed in accordance with those references
- Develop, track, maintain, and present data and metrics
- Gather and communicate data and metrics for weekly and monthly reporting as well as fulfilling ad hoc requests
- Prioritize work and developing daily, weekly, and monthly schedules
- Tracking progress towards completion of schedules
- Ensure employees are trained in all aspects of their work requirements to include applicable NASA and other federal regulations and systems
- Escalate personnel issues to supervisors
- Develop and keep up to date Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Locates and moves materials and parts between work areas to expedite processes according to pre-determined schedules and priorities
- Maintain records, inventory reports, and work orders to determine types, quantities, and availability of required material according to NASA priorities
- May be tasked, trained, and perform duties as a non-CDL Truck Driver or Material Handling Equipment operator, including operating: Medium Trucks, Forklifts, and Specialty Material Handling Equipment
Necessary Skills and Knowledge:
- Ability to safely lift to 50 lbs.
- Must be able to pass NASA forklift training and certification and pass NASA physical to receive forklift license.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and via email
- Ability to perform the physical requirements of the position including being on your feet most of the day and lifting requirements.
- Ability to be trained in the use of warehouse tools and manual material handling equipment.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Ability to obtain and retain a Common Access Card (CAC).
- Must be able to clearly read, write, speak, and comprehend the English language.
- Ability to pass a background check including a clean driving record.
- Pass pre-employment drug screening.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience in using computers as part of a military or civilian retail / store / warehouse environment.
- Previous experience working in a warehouse or other industrial environment and/or experience with driving trucks and/or other non-CDL required vehicles.
- High school diploma or equivalent
Pay and Benefits
The pay rate for this position is $36.71 per hour.
