The Learning Design and Innovation (LDI) group comprises teams of learning designers, product designers, multimedia production, UX design and system support analysts. The LDI group sits within the Digital Transformation and Quality Learning Portfolio which also includes the Wyndham Technical School and Brimbank Technical School as well as the University’s Employability and Success group.
About the Role:
The Senior Learning Designer role focuses on the collaborative design and development of Units for blended and online learning delivery as part of our Course Modernisation and Assessment Refresh strategic projects and our Core Business operations.
It is part of the Office of Learning Design and Innovation at Victoria University and reports to the Manager of Learning Design. The position works collaboratively with the Learning Design team and other stakeholders.
This is a continuing position at a HEW 8, $110,100 - $123,987 classification working 36.75 hours per week with 17% employer superannuation contributions.
An example of your responsibilities or duties you may perform will include:
- Designing and developing Units for delivery in various modes including blended and online in the Block model.
- Contributing to strategic projects in Assessment Refresh and Course Modernisation
About You:
You will have experience as a learning designer working in the delivery of learning in tertiary education. You will be highly self-motivated, knowledgeable about the art and practice of learning design and have a strong attention to detail. You will be curious, collaborative, and occasionally experimental but you will also be keen to base your work on evidence and acknowledged best practice.
An ability to make human connections, be empathetic and understanding will be important as will an ability to communicate clearly and succinctly.

Your work would be expected to scale up across the University and would directly improve the learning experience of many students. You would be a key part of important strategic initiatives such as the University’s course modernisation program and assessment reform initiatives.
