Description
Under the direction of the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and in harmony with the mission and purpose of the established goals of the Westfield Area YMCA (Y), the Accounting Support Specialist is responsible for performing clerical and administrative duties, paying the Y’s non-payroll-related bills, reconciling bank accounts, reviewing and auditing timecards for the bi-weekly payroll and providing support to the CFO and all other constituents in a professional manner. The Accounting Support Specialist must exemplify that member service is an equal part of any position in the Y as the technical aspects of each position and must demonstrate a commitment to the Y’s four Core Values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility.
Essential Functions:
- Manage the accounts payable function in accordance with the AP policies and procedures.
- Facilitate payroll processing through timecard review and audit.
- Reconcile various bank and other balance sheet accounts in a timely, accurate manner.
- Assist CFO with routine accounting activities, including journal entries.
- Resolve credit card chargebacks and other banking issues, as needed.
- Interact and maintain positive relationships with administrators, supervisors, staff and vendors in order to perform the above tasks successfully.
- Maintain confidentiality of all work-related matters.
- Other special projects, as needed.

Requirements
- In-person, Full-Time, 35 hours per week
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business required
- Minimum of 1 year relevant professional experience in an accounting/finance setting; Accounts Payable exp. required.
- Proficient computers skills and able to read, write and type.
- Able to work independently, be organized, detailed-oriented, accurate and meet deadlines.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Payroll and non-profit experience a plus.
