Santa Fe Christian Schools has an immediate opening for a Controller/Director of Business Operations. The Controller is a strategic and hands-on financial leader responsible for ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting. This role directly supports the school's mission by strengthening internal controls, optimizing operational efficiency, and proactively managing financial risk. The Controller will lead the AR/AP team, oversee all critical month-end close processes and audits, manage tuition assistance, process semi-monthly payroll, and ensure strict compliance with all state and federal tax filings. This position is pivotal in building dependable financial procedures while working collaboratively with all departments to support the school's long-term fiscal health.

POSITION REQUIRMENTS:
- Serve as the key financial leader, providing strategic direction and hands-on management for all accounting and fiscal operations
- Direct and manage all aspects of the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate completion
- Oversee all financial audits and serve as the primary point of contact for external auditors
- Prepare monthly financial reports used by the leadership team, finance committee, and board
- Oversee semi-monthly payroll processing
- Ensure strict compliance with all state and federal tax filings, regulations, and accounting standards
- Lead, mentor, and manage the Accounts Receivable (AR) and Accounts Payable (AP) team, fostering a culture of collaboration and excellence
PROFESSIONAL REQUIRMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required; a CPA or CPA track is highly preferred
- Minimum of 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
- K-12 school experience or school-related work experience preferred
- Excellent organizational and analytical skills, with a strong attention to detail.
- Confident communicator with the ability to collaborate across departments and with external partners
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google, as well as other applicable software programs, including QuickBooks or other related accounting software.
- Proven ability to mentor and develop junior accounting staff, fostering a collaborative and accountable team culture
