The Manager, Accounting reports directly to the Director, Accounting. This position will be responsible for helping to facilitate and review the monthly, quarterly, and year-end closes, including journal entry approval, account reconciliations and financial statement analytics. This role will also assist with the preparation of the Accounts Receivable analysis and select other accruals. This position will also assist in maintaining an effective and efficient control environment to ensure SOX compliance. The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated self-starter with attention to detail and excellent communication skills as they will work closely with cross-functional teams, including Commercial and FP&A teams, to ensure accounts receivable and other areas are properly accounted for. Candidate must also have a strong understanding and knowledge of US GAAP. 


Roles and Responsiblities
  • Responsible for various aspects of the monthly, quarterly, and year-end accounting close activities, including the preparation of various journal entries, account reconciliations and schedules required to support the internal and external reporting processes.
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies, variances or unusual transactions as they arise during the close process.
  • Support month-end close activities, ensuring all financial transactions are accurately recorded and classified in the general ledger.
  • Ensure timely and accurate reporting of monthly financial results.
  • Responsible for key areas, such as the Accounts Receivable analysis and coordinating balances and activities with ICS and Commercial teams, and other monthly accruals.
  • Oversee accounting areas, such as prepaids, fixed assets, payroll and other areas prepared by the accounting staff.
  • Collaborate and partner with IT, Commercial, FP&A and other internal stakeholders to maintain and prepare the Company’s accounts receivable and various other accruals.
  • Assist in the enhancement and maintenance of internal controls and procedures to ensure compliance with GAAP and Sarbanes-Oxley
  • Assist with the preparation of management reports, financial statements, and analysis to support senior leadership and business partners in decision-making.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline and automate accounting processes and systems.  Demonstrate strong analytical skills to identify and explain fluctuations in quarterly financial information and provide requested information to leadership.
  • Preparation and rollforward of various memos and other reporting documents
  • Assist in the support of quarterly and annual internal and external audit processes.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting policies, internal controls, and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) in all accounting activities.
  • Provide ad-hoc assistance with special projects and analyses within the Finance organization.


  • Educational Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance
  • CPA required


  • Professional Work Experience Requirements
  • Minimum of 5-10 years of accounting work experience, preferably includes experience within a regional or national CPA firm
  • Experience with the life sciences strongly desired 


  • Experience and Skills
  • High degree of computer literacy with Microsoft applications including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel
  • Experience with NetSuite and other accounting software is a plus
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft SharePoint is a plus
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
