Responsibilities:
  • Client Relationship Management: Serve as the primary advisor for a portfolio of large, complex accounts, with a strong emphasis on public sector and union clients. Oversee service delivery, coverage strategy, and risk management in collaboration with Producers and Client Services teams. Maintain and deepen client relationships through consistent, high-quality communication and social engagement.
  • Strategic Planning & Advisory: Deliver proactive, strategic guidance tailored to the unique needs of public entities and labor organizations. Provide expert advice on complex coverage issues, evolving regulatory requirements, and program design. Use data analytics, claims trends, and benchmarking to drive informed recommendations and continuous improvement.
  • Renewal & Marketing Execution: Lead the development and execution of renewal and marketing strategies for large, multi-faceted accounts. Ensure proposals are accurate, comprehensive, and aligned with client goals. Oversee preparation and delivery of stewardship reports and executive presentations, often involving multiple stakeholders.
  • Carrier & Market Engagement: Negotiate directly with carriers to resolve coverage gaps, optimize pricing, and identify innovative product solutions suited for public sector risks. Build and maintain strong carrier relationships to enhance client offerings and meet the specialized needs of this market segment.
  • Business Development: Identify opportunities for cross-selling, account rounding, and referrals within a mature book of business. Support new business initiatives through proposal development, pitch participation, and internal collaboration.
  • Collaboration & Teamwork: Work closely with Producers, Account Managers, Claims, Loss Control, Analytics, and other internal partners to deliver integrated and client-focused solutions. Value diverse perspectives and contribute to a team-oriented, high-performance culture.
  • Professionalism & Integrity: Uphold the highest standards of ethical conduct, client confidentiality, and compliance with public sector regulations and union guidelines. Understand and support the execution of organizational initiatives, policies, and goals.
  • Community & Industry Engagement: Represent the organization at industry events, public forums, and client board meetings. Stay informed on legislative developments, labor trends, and market conditions that impact public sector and union clients.
  • Continuous Improvement: Conduct regular audits of insurance placements to identify potential coverage deficiencies and recommend enhancements. Contribute to internal projects and service model improvements aligned with the evolving needs of large institutional clients.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in Employee Benefits, with a strong track record of client retention, strategic consulting, and new business development.
  • Active Life and Health license required.
  • Proven ability to manage and grow a book of business with $900,000+ in annual revenue, preferably within complex public sector and union client segments.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to tailor messaging across various audiences and formats (e.g., email, presentations, visual data summaries). Able to adapt delivery style to meet the needs of individuals, executive teams, or large groups.
  • Strong knowledge of industry trends, compliance requirements, and best practices. Demonstrated ability to stay informed of market developments and leverage carrier partnerships as strategic resources.
Additional Information:

This job requires presence in the office on a hybrid schedule as agreed with the manager.
