JOB SUMMARY

ThermFlo supports large companies, municipalities, and healthcare systems in the Upper Midwest providing 24/7 service for mission critical power generation, thermal, and data center systems. The Outside Sales Industrial Generator role cultivates deep relationships with existing and new customers as their trusted advisor for capital investments in mission critical systems, selling and quoting power generation solutions and system upgrades for both greenfield and brownfield applications. The  Outside Sales Industrial Generator role partners with clients helping them have the peace of mind of uninterrupted business and growing our industrial generator sales customer base and improving the wallet share of existing customers. 


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

The  Outside Sales Industrial Generator sells new power generation and industrial energy sales through creative and scalable strategies with customers in IL, IN, and WI tri-state area. 

Their main duties include: 

  • Translating technical information to actionable insights that speak to end users and addressing their concerns about business continuity during power outages, system failures, and during periods of growth that can impact the critical systems keeping their organizations running. 
  • Developing and reengaging new and existing customers through prospecting activities including networking, calling warm and cool leads, and personally visiting clients to create lasting connections. 
  • Partnering with engineering, field technicians, and internal subject matter experts to sell power generation and industrial energy systems replacements and upgrades. 
  • Communicating with all levels of the client organization from Facilities Management to Business Owners and acting as their technical expert providing credible advice to proactively solve their power generation challenges. 
  • Managing existing service contracts and non-contract customer relationships and accounts. 
  • Demonstrating advanced CRM knowledge by using reporting to gain sales efficiencies and improve customer communications. 
  • Proactively learning and taking advantage of opportunities to improve product and technical knowledge provided by the company and through represented manufacturer training. 
  • Collaborating with internal and external teams to efficiently drive new generator sales meeting or exceeding sales quotas and profit targets. 
  • Attending industry-related networking events to develop new relationships and resulting leads. 
  • Continuously improves technical competency and keeps current in new developments within the industry. 

SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Comprehends and adheres to all safety, quality, and Company guidelines specified in the Employee Handbook, the safety policy manuals, quality procedures or any official Company documents. 
  • Other duties as assigned. 

Requirements

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Education: Requires a high school diploma or GED equivalent. 
  • Excellent Communication Skills: Ability to listen effectively and understand the needs of internal and external customers. Ability to talk with customers, coworkers, and vendors, and appropriately adjust technical content to meet different audience knowledge. Must be resourceful, self-motivated, customer focused, and results driven. 
  • Technical Skills: 2-5 years of working knowledge of thermal, power generation, and electrical systems including equipment, service, and maintenance requirements for commercial or residential buildings. 
  • Computer Proficiency: Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite. Strong understanding of CRM software and ability to track and analyze customer data and reporting. 

PREFERABLE QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Trade School, Associate’s degree, and/or Bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture, thermal science, or related technical field. 
  • Experience in service maintenance agreement sales with basic knowledge of mission critical facility equipment and building automation systems preferred. 
  • Works well in a team selling/collaborative environment and is resourceful, self-motivated, customer focused, and results driven. 

WORK AND TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Driving/Travel Responsibilities: This position requires occasional travel including potential weekly customer and site visits. Efforts are primarily focused within the Chicagoland area/tristate region, and the home office is located in Buffalo Grove. Occasional national travel may be required to support prospects, clients, and related events such as trade shows, etc. International travel is not anticipated but may be required based on client need. A valid driver’s license, current automobile insurance, and valid passport are required. 
  • Physical Demands: This position requires the ability to operate within an office environment and occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Reasonable accommodations will be provided aligned with current federal and state regulations upon request. 
  • Work Environment: This position will have a similar split between working in a professional office environment and working in field environments. 
  • Position Type and Expected Hours of Work: This is a salaried + incentive-based, full-time position operating Monday-Friday with occasional evening and weekend requirements in the case of customer emergencies.
