Tuffaloy Products is a leading manufacturer of resistance welding consumables. The resistance welding process is a cost-effective metal joining process used in automotive, industrial, and aerospace manufacturing. Tuffaloy is a privately held business that has been in operation for 85 years. Our Products are produced at our 50,000 sq/ft climate-controlled facility utilizing state-of-the-art CNC Lathes, mills, presses and cold formers. We are looking for a self-driven, detail-oriented team player to join Tuffaloy's manufacturing team.
The Planner Buyer is responsible for scheduling production activities of made to stock and made to order parts, managing material planning factors, and purchasing necessary raw materials, and MRO items. This role works closely with operations, manufacturing engineering, and sales to ensure timely fulfillment of customer orders while optimizing efficiency and cost-effectiveness. The Buyer Planner will collaborate with the manufacturing team to improve processes, contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, and document processes.
Responsibilities include:
Production Planning & Scheduling:
o Develop and maintain the production schedule using Epicor Kinetic ERP system to ensure on-time delivery of customer orders through the Daily review of the Production Planner Dashboard
o Manage and update planning parameters (days of supply, lot size multiples, and min lot size) in the Epicor Kinetic ERP system to drive MRP planned order quantities and increase production efficiency
o Coordinate with Sales on customer order priorities
o Coordinate with manufacturing and operations teams to prioritize work and optimize production flow.
o Monitor work-in-progress (WIP) and proactively address potential bottlenecks.
Material Planning & Purchasing:
o Manage and update planning parameters (lead times, safety stock, order quantities) in the Epicor Kinetic MRP system to minimize stock outs and shortages
o Review the PO Suggestions Dashboard daily and procure raw materials, ensuring availability to meet production needs while controlling inventory levels.
o Manage weekly cycle count program and maintain inventory balances in Epicor Kinetic ERP
o Purchase MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Operations) items to support uninterrupted manufacturing operations.
o Monitor supplier performance, negotiate pricing and terms, and develop relationships with key vendors.
Collaboration & Continuous Improvement:
o Work closely with operations and manufacturing engineering to support process improvements and resolve issues.
o Participate in cost reduction initiatives, supplier evaluations, and inventory management improvements.
o Provide input on best practices for material flow and production efficiency.
o Support Epicor Kinetic ERP/MRP system enhancements and process optimization efforts.

Requirements
Planner / Buyer
This position requires an understanding of scheduling and purchasing in a manufacturing environment, experience with ERP systems in a manufacturing environment, strong organizational skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with machinists and engineers to optimize processes. Proficient in use of planning tools and Microsoft Excel, and an understanding of MRP systems is critical. Strong problem solving and analytical skills required. Knowledge of CNC machining, Cold Heading and/or assembly processes is desired.
A minimum of two years of experience in scheduling or purchasing in a manufacturing environment is required. Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering or Supply Chain Management preferred.
