Job Title: Shop Manager

Who We Serve: EMT serves organizations in the St. Louis, Missouri metro and surrounding areas, including neighboring areas in Illinois, as well as Cumberland, Maryland. These organizations include school districts, hospitals, doctor's offices, and more. Job Description:

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Shop Manager to oversee the maintenance and repair operations of our Non-Emergency Medical Transportation (NEMT) vehicles. The ideal candidate will ensure the efficient functioning of our fleet while maintaining compliance with safety standards.


Essential Functions:


Fleet Maintenance & Repair

- Oversee daily operations of the maintenance shop for NEMT vehicles, including ambulatory, wheelchair-accessible, and stretcher vans.

- Develop and execute a preventative maintenance schedule to ensure vehicle reliability.

- Ensure timely repairs to minimize vehicle downtime and maintain service quality.

- Maintain an accurate inventory of tools, equipment, and parts necessary for vehicle maintenance.


Staff Management

- Supervise and schedule mechanics and technicians to optimize workflow and productivity.

- Conduct training sessions on safety standards, diagnostics, and vehicle-specific procedures to enhance team skills.

- Evaluate team performance regularly and provide coaching or disciplinary actions as needed to foster a high-performance culture.


Compliance & Safety

- Ensure all vehicles comply with DOT, ADA, OSHA, and NEMT-specific safety standards.

- Maintain accurate maintenance records to facilitate audits and inspections.

- Implement safety protocols and best practices to promote a safe working environment.


Qualifications:

- Proven experience in fleet maintenance management or a similar role.

- Strong knowledge of vehicle maintenance and repair processes.

- Excellent leadership and team management skills.

- Familiarity with safety regulations and compliance standards.

- Strong organizational and communication skills.

Requirements

Education: 

  • High school diploma or GED required; Associate's or technical degree preferred.

Experience:

  • 3+ years in vehicle maintenance or fleet operations; 1+ year in a supervisory role.

Abilities:

  • Strong mechanical and diagnostic knowledge of gas and diesel engines.
  • Familiarity with ADA compliance and NEMT vehicle requirements.
  •   Leadership and communication skills.
  • Computer literacy (fleet maintenance software, MS Office, etc.). 
  • Valid driver's license required; CDL or DOT certification is a plus.
