As the Background Compliance Specialist, you will adjudicate employee criminal history record check results and assess and monitor security threat assessment results for badge holders at SEA.

  • You will be responsible for the compliance of CFR 1542.209 and adjudicate criminal history record check results from the Fingerprint Results Distribution System.
  • You will be responsible for monitoring Rap Back system ensuring that all notification results from Rap Back are processed and adjudicated in a timely manner.  
  • You will monitor, assess and report security threat assessment results from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Transportation Security Administration (TSA) Adjudication Center.
  • You will monitor and interpret changes in laws, regulations, and guidance related to assigned programs and evaluate impact to Port of Seattle Aviation Security.
  • You will develop and implement policy and procedural changes as required by federal regulation, ensuring programs, policies, procedures, processes, and reporting are in compliance.
  • You will maintain and enhance the processes that provide measurable benefits to business units and ensure metrics are established and tracked to show effectiveness.
  • You will communicate regularly with federal stakeholders, authorized signers, and the Aviation Security department to provide information about credential findings.
  • You will identify trends, patterns and consistencies that shape the future direction of the credentialing processes.
  • You will manage user access, permission levels, auditing and reporting.
  • You will assist with additional projects that are assigned to Security and Access management.

  • Experienced – You have three (3) years of experience in aviation/security operations or regulatory compliance.
  • Desired – We hope you have an AAAE Trusted Agent certification and/or an AAAE Airport Certified Employee (ACE) Security certification.

  • Work Schedule – Your normal work schedule will be Monday – Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. (40 hours per week). Slightly more flexible start and end times are available in this role. 
  • Work Environment - This work will take place in a hybrid/in-office setting at Management’s discretion.
  • Washington State Residency Requirement – Employees must establish a residence in Washington state within 30 days of their first day of employment and must maintain a residence in Washington State during their employment with the Port of Seattle. If a position is eligible to telework, work performed while teleworking must be performed in Washington State.
  • Security Requirements – As the successful candidate, you must pass a Transportation Security Administration (TSA) background check as well as a criminal history background check with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). Your employment will be contingent upon obtaining a Port of Seattle ID badge upon clearance.
