The Role:

The HR & Payroll Specialist will play a critical role in managing payroll and benefits operations across our portfolio of companies, including domestic payroll, global payroll, and EOR (Employer of Record) employees. This role will also be responsible for high level day-to-day benefits administration, responding to employee inquiries, and supporting various office assistant and administrative tasks at our headquarters in Cottonwood Heights, Utah.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Payroll Management

  • Process payroll across multiple entities and systems (including PEOs), ensuring accuracy and compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Oversee coordination of international and EOR payroll in partnership with Finance to ensure timely, accurate payments to global employees.
  • Enter salary and new hire data; set up direct deposits, W-4s, benefit deductions, and PTO accruals.
  • Maintain and update garnishments, including child support, liens, and other court-ordered deductions.
  • Review and verify payroll data, collaborating with HR on corrections and adjustments prior to final payroll submission.
  • Audit payroll records regularly to ensure compliance.
  • Maintain and oversee time and attendance systems (Rippling, TriNet) for all portfolio companies.

Benefits Administration

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all benefits-related inquiries, including health, dental, vision, life insurance, 401(k), and leave policies.
  • Support benefits enrollments, changes, and terminations in the benefits system.
  • Coordinate with brokers, vendors, and carriers to resolve employee benefit issues.
  • Assist in annual open enrollment preparation and communication.

Employee Support & HR Administration

  • Respond promptly to employee questions regarding payroll, benefits, and HR policies.
  • Proactively communicate important payroll and benefits updates to employees.
  • Assist with HR projects, reporting, and compliance initiatives as assigned.

Office & Administrative Support

  • Provide general administrative and office assistant support, including scheduling, ordering supplies, managing correspondence, and coordinating small events or meetings.
  • Assist leadership with special projects and day-to-day operational needs.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred, or equivalent work experience.
  • 2–3 years of payroll and/or HR experience, including exposure to global payroll or EOR arrangements preferred.

Qualifications & Skills

  • 2-3 years experience with Rippling, TriNet, EOR's or similar HRIS/PEO systems preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational and prioritization skills.
  • Proven track record of reliability, confidentiality, and high-quality work.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to change.
  • Strong executive presence with the ability to build effective working relationships across all levels.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Basic finance knowledge; ability to work with numbers accurately.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and process-improvement mindset.
