POSITION PURPOSE: 

The Continuing Education Coordinator is responsible for coordinating seminars, short-term courses and programs, workshops and conferences both on and off campus using multiple formats including but not limited to online, face-to-face and hybrid. The Continuing Education Coordinator interfaces with business and industry partners to enhance business relationships, identify areas of program expansion, and increase student enrollment in program offerings. This position reports directly to the Dean of Workforce & Career Pathways.

GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinate scheduling, marketing, recruitment, and logistical support for allied health courses, programs, workshops, and seminars conducted through the Office of Continuing Education. 
  • Assist in the development and distribution of marketing materials, program information, curriculum, or catalogs in collaboration with Marketing Department and Dean of Workforce & Career Pathways.
  • Conduct needs assessments with business and industry partners to identify needs for customized training and professional development for employees working in allied healthcare.
  • Represent Navarro College with economic development partners, workforce partners, and business and industry partners to promote Navarro College programs and services, build new relationships, and support the economic and workforce development of the region. 
  • Develop and maintain professional relationships with key stakeholders including business partners, industry organizations, economic development entities, and workforce development entities. 
  • Prepare and deliver presentations on Navarro College allied health programs and services to stakeholders, potential students, and potential partners. 
  • Recruit, maintain, and support instructors assigned to Continuing Education allied health courses and programs. Ensure instructors are informed of Navarro College policies and procedures. Coordinate meetings and other developmental activities as needed.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with business and industry representatives for the purpose of allied health program advisement and coordination of clinical or in-service opportunities for students. 
  • Monitor programs to ensure compliance with standards, guidelines, and regulations of governing agencies and organizations. 
  • Ensure class and program files are complete and maintained in compliance with all requirements. 
  • Remain current on HHSC, SACSCOC and THECB guidance and requirements for program and course administration. Evaluate program procedures to ensure compliance with requirements. Advise Dean of Workforce & Career Pathways of any regulation changes or procedures to be updated. 
  • Follow all Navarro College procedures regarding grade entry, maintenance of records, and distribution of CE Certificates of Completion. 
  • Communicate with students regarding access to Navarro College facilities and systems, course dates, course cancellations or changes, and other information as needed.
  • Maintain contact with students after program completion as appropriate and required to track employment and other deliverables. 
  • Manage and implement grant-funded programs as assigned. Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations and requirements. 
  • Ensure grant-funded deliverables and activities are implemented in accordance with project timelines and requirements. 
  • Work with other departments of Navarro College to ensure successful implementation of all programs and activities, including grant-funded projects. 
  • Communicate regularly with the Dean of Workforce & Career Pathways regarding institutional activities including achievement toward deliverables, enrollment or other metrics, scheduling, partner activity, and other status activities as needed. Advise the Dean of Workforce & Career Pathways on all matters relating to areas of responsibility and keep him/her fully informed.
  • Represent Navarro College in a professional manner to internal and external stakeholders and customers. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Dean of Workforce & Career Pathways. 

Instruction 

  • Teach courses as needed within skills and credentials, primarily in allied healthcare fields.

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret scientific or technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. 
  • Ability to develop and deliver presentations, host focus groups or meetings, and conduct needs assessments to guide curriculum development activities. 
  • Ability to present information to staff, administration, project managers, or business partners. 
  • Demonstrated skill solving problems, developing solutions using logic or analytical processes, mediating conflict, developing curriculum, evaluating programs, and project management. 
  • Background in healthcare to teach allied health programs hosted by Continuing Education.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

Required

  • Associate degree 
  • Will consider any equivalent combination of education, experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Minimum of two years of nursing experience

Preferred

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Licensed Vocational Nurse in the state of Texas 
  • One year of experience providing long-term care services in a facility
  • Have six months of experience teaching adult students OR six months of supervising nurse aides.
  • Experience teaching in allied health programs.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Variances from regular working hours will be necessary to fulfill the responsibilities of the position.  Work flexible hours including daytime, evenings and weekends to observe courses, manage registration, and attend Navarro College meetings, courses, and special events.
  • Busy working environment with numerous interruptions.
  • The primary office location for this position is on the Waxahachie campus, but travel within the district is routine and required.  Areas of responsibility will be assigned.

SALARY:  $51,005. annually (This is a 12 month position to be paid over 12 months)
