Position Overview:

The Maître d’ of Citrus Club is the first point of contact for guests, embodying the warmth, elegance, and professionalism of The Dewberry brand. This individual is responsible for orchestrating the flow of service, managing reservations, and ensuring every guest enjoys a seamless and memorable experience. The Maître d’ serves as a leader on the floor, guiding hosts and servers, and maintaining the standards of service excellence for which Citrus Club is known.

Key Responsibilities

• Greet and welcome guests with genuine hospitality, creating a refined yet approachable first impression.
• Manage reservations, seating assignments, and guest flow to maximize both guest satisfaction and operational efficiency.
• Maintain an intimate knowledge of the menu, cocktail program, and wine offerings to guide and elevate the guest experience.
• Lead and support the host team, ensuring consistency in service standards, appearance, and demeanor.
• Anticipate guest needs and resolve any concerns with professionalism and discretion.
• Collaborate with management, servers, bartenders, and kitchen staff to ensure smooth service execution.
• Foster guest loyalty by recognizing repeat visitors, personalizing experiences, and maintaining strong relationships.
• Uphold the brand standards of The Dewberry and Citrus Club in all guest interactions and team leadership.
• Assist with training, scheduling, and performance feedback of the host team as directed by leadership.
• Maintain an immaculate appearance of the entry, host stand, and guest seating areas.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2–3 years of experience in a Maître d’, lead host, or front-of-house leadership role in a luxury hospitality or fine dining environment.
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with a natural ability to engage with diverse clientele.
• Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities; adept at managing reservations and guest flow.
• Professional appearance and demeanor consistent with luxury hospitality standards.
• Working knowledge of OpenTable or other reservation systems preferred.
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as business demands.

• Based on-site at The Dewberry in Charleston, SC.
