The Opportunity:

We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated Senior Cloud Engineer to join our growing cloud and infrastructure team. In this key role, you will help lead the development, deployment, and management of Microsoft Azure IaaS services as we expand and modernise our infrastructure.

You will work in our Cloud team to ensure seamless integration between our existing on-premises VMware Cloud Foundation environment and our evolving Azure estate. Your responsibilities will also include enabling Infrastructure as Code (IaC), managing cloud governance and policy, and driving operational excellence across our hybrid cloud footprint.

This is an open-ended position and we would ideally like someone to work 35 hrs per week (Monday-Friday), with occasional out of hours work. However, we are committed to offering flexibility where possible and are happy to consider working patterns such as compressed hours or staggered start/finish times. You will be able to work flexibly between home and from our office with views of Edinburgh Castle.

The salary for this post is £50,253 to £61,759 per annum.

Your skills and attributes for success:

  • Design, build, and support secure, scalable, and cost-effective Azure IaaS services, including computer, networking, and storage.
  • Collaborate with the Private Cloud team to support a hybrid architecture, extending our estate from an on-premises VMware Cloud Foundation deployment into a hybrid environment with Azure.
  • Assist with the integration of on-premises infrastructure into Azure services, including identity, networking, and automation.
  • Develop and implement Infrastructure as Code solutions using tools such as Terraform.
  • Enforce Azure governance through Azure Policy, Blueprints, RBAC, and tagging strategies.
  • Manage Azure subscriptions and cost optimisation tools to ensure financial control and visibility.
  • Drive operational automation through scripting (e.g., PowerShell, Azure CLI) and CI/CD integration.
  • Support cloud monitoring, alerting, backup, and resilience capabilities using native Azure tools.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship across teams and projects.

What We Offer:

  • A key role in shaping our hybrid cloud strategy.
  • Exposure to cutting-edge technologies across public and private cloud domains.
  • Ongoing professional development.

Ready to make an impact? Apply now and help us bridge the gap between on-premises infrastructure and cloud innovation.
