Under limited supervision, responsible for providing a variety of activities related to the transportation of patients, guests, and equipment. Actively engages patient population in the waiting room area to ensure a positive and inviting experience. May lead or mentor lower level team members.
Responsibilities
- Creates best care experience when greeting and assisting all patients and visitors entering multiple areas of the hospital and clinics.
- Assists with checking patient’s schedule, answering questions regarding their appointment, and checking paperwork.
- Assists front desk with various duties and register patients in MyChart.
- Safely and securely transports and assists patients to and from clinical, ancillary and support areas via wheelchair/stretcher as requested to include transport of oxygen tanks and any special equipment.
- Ensures wheelchairs are available at each entry in a clean and working condition.
- Accounts for and secures wheelchairs by end of shift and inspects on a daily basis for any needed repairs.
- Assists clinical personnel in transferring patients to/from beds, wheelchairs or stretchers as requested.
- Assists patients in and out of vehicles and escorts or transports to and from the hospital or clinic lobby in a cordial manner and obtains service for the transportation to other locations.
- Supports clerical duties to include answering phones/voice mail, and maintaining various sign out and patient transport logs.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.

- Excellent interpersonal skills to operate in a direct patient contact environment and work with the general public.
- Excellent customer service skills and ability to effectively work with both internal and external customers and respond to requests in a timely and respectful manner.
- Self-motivated and directed; takes ownership for deliverables and deadlines.
- Ability to be motivate and create commitment to excellence.
EXPERIENCE:
- Five (5) years related experience is required
EDUCATION:
- High school diploma or GED is required.
Company
- Front-loaded Paid Time Off: 128 to 208 hours (16 to 26 days) of Paid Time Off based on years of service, given at the start of each fiscal year. PTO may be prorated in year one based on date of hire.
- Extended Illness Bank: 8 hours (1 day) accrued per month which can be used for illness or injury after one day of Paid Time Off is taken.
