Doula - Roseland Adolescent Pregnancy and Parenting
The Doula provides holistic, strength-based support to families through education, advocacy, emotional and physical care before, during, and after childbirth, while maintaining confidentiality, accurate documentation, and ongoing community outreach.
Job Responsibilities

The Doula is responsible for promoting healthy pregnancies, breast feeding and building a trusting relationship that offers strength-based services for families.

Facilitate effective communication between clients and family members to ensure that the client's needs and preferences are understood and respected. Offers continuous emotional and physical support to clients before, during and after labor.

Provide education on childbirth, pain management techniques and postpartum care. Assist clients with creating a birth plan that aligns with their values and preferences. Support clients in their postpartum recovery, including assistance with infant care, breastfeeding and resources and referrals to additional services as needed.

Maintain confidentiality and uphold the client's autonomy and choices. Remain current on best practices in maternal and infant health through ongoing education and training.

Document client interactions and maintain accurate records of services provided in compliance with organizational policies. Assist in gathering data for reporting purposes, including client feedback, birth outcomes, and service evaluations. Assist in maintaining organizational records, including client consent forms and pertinent documentation, in accordance with all relevant CCAC, state, and federal policies and procedures.

The Doula is responsible for initiating and maintaining regular contact and support with participant families.

The Doula will provide community outreach, prenatal education activities, and assist the family in preparing for childbirth through both home visiting and group-based services.

The Doula will advocate for participant families, these activities will take place primarily within the family's home with appropriate safety measures in place.
PLEASE NOTE: Essential functions include all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
X Kneel and move from sitting, bending, kneeling or standing multiple times a day.
X Push and pull objects up to 50 pounds.
X Climb up and down up to 3 or more flights of stairs at a time.

Education and Experience Requirements:
Relevant Education:
Minimum: Associate degree
Preferred: Bachelor Degree
Relevant Experience:
Minimum: 2-4 years of experience in community health, early childhood development, or social work
Preferred: 4-6 years of experience in community health, early childhood development, or social work
Ability to use various computer applications and to learn other databases required for documentation, data entry, etc.
Certification/Licensure:
Minimum: Doula/CPR Certification
Preferred: First Aid Certification
