Job Title: Accounting Supervisor

Department: Operations – Services 

Reports To: RavenTek Program Manager

Location: Washington, DC with flexibility for telework (must live within driving distance)

Schedule: Monday – Friday 

Hours: Full-time, 40-hours/week

FLSA Status: Hourly, Non-Exempt

Clearance: Public Trust

Position Summary

The Accounting Supervisor will provide specialized accounting expertise and oversee task teams supporting the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), Management Bureau’s Chief Financial Office (CFO), Central Accounting and Reporting Division (CAR). This position is critical to ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timeliness in financial reporting, reconciliation, funds control, and audit support. The Accounting Supervisor will manage small project teams, contribute to process improvements, and support project leadership in delivering high-quality accounting services in line with federal standards. The performance of this position is key to RavenTek's performance on the contract, and therefore RavenTek's mission to support the customer.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

  • The Accounting Supervisor will perform and oversee work in the following areas:
  • Accounting and Reporting
  • Support preparation of the four principal financial statements (Balance Sheet, Statement of Change in Net Position, Statement of Net Cost, Statement of Budgetary Resources), footnotes, and required supplementary information.
  • Ensure proper crosswalks, audit trails, and general ledger trial balances that support financial statements and disclosures.
  • Assist USAID management in addressing internal and external audit inquiries.
  • Maintain electronic and hardcopy supporting work papers in accordance with GAAP.
  • Reconciliations and Audit Support
  • Assist in managing the Prepared by Client (PBC) list and responding to OIG requests for information.
  • Conduct audit follow-up, track recommendations, and report corrective actions.
  • Ensure compliance with USAID, OMB, GAO, and Treasury standards.
  • General Reporting and Documentation
  • Provide written reports using USAID-standard applications (Microsoft Office Suite, Google).
  • Ensure proper documentation of accounting processes including SVs, JVs, cash reconciliations, and GL-to-subsidiary ledger reconciliations.
  • Process Improvement & Funds Control
  • Support automation of manual processes and recommend efficiency improvements.
  • Assist with A-11 requirements, apportionment documents, and funds control activities including SF-132, SF-133, and carryover reconciliations.
  • Team Leadership
  • Manage small task teams within projects.
  • Provide technical and analytical guidance to team members.
  • Enter actual time worked, once complete, at the end of the day, or no later than 10:00 a.m. the following workday, and submit timesheets at the end of each pay period.
  • Submit Monthly Status Report (MSR) as directed by the RavenTek Program Manager.
  • Monitor RavenTek email on a regular basis, at least 3 times per week, and respond accordingly. 
  • Complete required compliance training as assigned. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge and Critical Skills 

  • Working knowledge of the Federal Accounting Standard Advisory Board (FASAB), Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), United States Standard General Ledger (USSGL) accounts; Trust Fund Accounting; Office of Management and Budget (OMB) Bulletins and Circulars A- l 1, A-123, A-136 and GAO Auditing Standards and requirements, pronouncements, Government wide Treasury Account Symbol Adjusted Trial Balance System (GTAS) and the Treasury Bureau of Fiscal Service regulations and guidelines.
  • Knowledge of business and accounting practices, policies, regulations, and procedures.
  • Knowledge of a variety of accounting and budget functional areas and their relationships to other functions.
  • Knowledge of automated accounting and budget systems and the relevant Department of the Treasury systems, e.g., G-Invoicing.
  • Ability to write correspondence to convey information relating to accounting processes and issues.

Education & Work Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, business, or finance from an accredited institution.
  • At least five (5) years’ of accounting or business consulting experience.
  • At least three (3) years’ of accounting or business managerial experience.

Certifications, Licenses

  • CPA is Preferred but not required.

Special Requirements

  • Public Trust Clearance required.

Work Environment

Employees will be working indoors in an office environment with other people. Potential moderate temperature fluctuations. Typical indoor and computer related noise level, and typical office, paper, and equipment related dust. Exposure to video display terminals occurs on a regular basis.


Physical Demands

To successfully perform the essential functions of the job, the employee needs to be able to sit at a workstation for extended periods; use hand(s) to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear; see to read printed materials and computer screens; mobility to work in a typical office setting. Ability to work on desktop or laptop computer for extended periods of time reading, reviewing/analyzing information, and may be required to provide recommendations, summaries and/or reports in written format. Must be able to effectively communicate with others verbally and in writing. Employee must be able to lift and/or move moderate amounts of weight, typically up to 20 pounds. Regular and predictable attendance is essential.
