Description
The Facilities Technician is responsible for providing general maintenance, repairs, and upkeep across the Boys & Girls Clubs of Hartford’s five brick-and-mortar sites. This position ensures that all facilities are safe, clean, and functional to support high-quality programming for youth. The Technician will work closely with the VP of Facilities & Safety to prioritize and complete tasks, coordinate outside vendors when needed, and respond to urgent maintenance needs promptly.
Key Job Responsibilities
- Perform general repairs and maintenance (plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and minor HVAC troubleshooting).
- Conduct routine inspections of facilities to identify and address maintenance needs.
- Assemble, move, and repair furniture, equipment, and fixtures.
- Support seasonal facility needs, including snow removal, groundskeeping, and minor landscaping.
- Ensure facilities meet safety standards by addressing hazards and reporting larger concerns to the VP of Facilities & Safety.
- Respond to work orders and maintenance requests promptly and document completed tasks.
- Coordinate and assist with contractors/vendors as directed.
- Maintain an organized inventory of tools, supplies, and materials.
- Provide occasional support for events or special projects that require facility setup or takedown.
- Uphold all organizational policies and procedures, including those related to safety and child protection
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; trade school or certifications a plus.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in building maintenance, repair, or related field.
- Working knowledge of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and general building systems.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve problems independently.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to travel between sites.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and perform physical tasks (climbing, bending, standing for extended periods).
