About the Department

The Business Analyst provides support to the Finance/Business Office by gathering information, generating reports, analyzing data, and providing recommendations regarding the Lake County Health Department and Community Health Centers (LCHD/CHC) program’s business operations. Responsible for generating accurate information as requested and interfacing with the Central Billing, Finance/Business Offices, and Program Coordinators/Leaders. Knowledgeable of the business in order to provide accurate financial projections and trends and more.

Scheduled Hours: 40 hours per week

Position Duties

  • Prepare various financial reports as assigned and provide information used for budgeting and performance management.   

  • Audit information for compliance with funding source requirements, rules and standards, and provides assistance in making business operations and revenue potential recommendations.   

  • Assists in making comprehensive, informed business decisions through data analysis and coordination with Administration, Operations and Program Managers/Leaders.  

  • Knowledgeable in all software systems used by LCHD/CHC and external funding agency sources, as required

  • Strong focus on data analytics, reporting, and trend identification.
  • Collaborates with cross functional teams.
  • Assists in the interpretation and analysis of management data, including program revenue and expense trends, to ensure data accuracy and support informed decision making.
  • Creates and provides management with the reports specifying and comparing factors affecting financial and operational performance including collections, reimbursement and profitability of the organization.  
  • Supports process improvements by identifying inefficiencies in workflows and collaborating with stakeholders to develop and implement solutions.
  • Serves as a bridge between finance, clinical operations, and IT to ensure that business requirements are met and translated into effective data solutions. 
  • Proficient in utilizing multiple data systems, including NextGen, Crystal Reports, Power BI, Tableau, and Excel, to analyze complex information and generate actionable insights for leadership decision making. 
  • Perform periodic audits of billing information for compliance with funding agencies requirements. 
  • Responds to inquiries, gives appropriate information and referrals, and documents, if necessary.
  • Displays positive attitudes and behaviors in the accomplishment of job duties.
  • Participates in staff meetings, in-service trainings, and seminars to facilitate professional growth and maintain current certification if required.
  • Undertakes joint ownership of processes.
  • Takes a personal stake in the success of the organization. 
  • Must meet minimum productivity expectations.
  • Maintains an awareness of professional involvement/collaboration with community resources.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or related healthcare field required.  Experience and understanding of CPT codes in a medical setting preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience of experience in business analysis, preferably in a healthcare setting.
