Job Summary
As a CNA, you will play a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for our residents by providing compassionate, hands-on care. You’ll work closely with nursing staff to ensure our residents receive the highest standard of support in alignment with Holland Home’s policies and mission.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities
Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs): bathing, grooming, toileting, dressing, and hygiene
Support residents during mealtimes: serve meals and snacks, assist with feeding if needed
Observe and report changes in physical/mental condition to nursing staff
Help residents with mobility: transferring, positioning, ambulating, and exercise routines
Answer call lights and respond promptly to resident needs
Ensure a safe, clean, and dignified living environment
Build trusting relationships with residents and families while providing emotional support
Maintain accurate documentation and uphold resident rights
Participate in team training, meetings, and ongoing education
Model the Holland Home Code of Conduct and utilize Positive Approach to Care™ principles
Additional Responsibilities
Support onboarding of new CNAs
Escort residents to meals, appointments, and activities
Assist nurses with vital signs, specimen collection, and other tasks as needed
Follow infection control guidelines and promptly report safety concerns
Perform after-death care with respect and sensitivity
Fulfill other duties as assigned by leadership
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent
Completion of a state-approved nursing aide program
Current Michigan CNA certification
Basic Life Support (BLS) and First Aid certification
Previous experience with elderly residents preferred
