Position Overview:

The Production Planner will be responsible for developing and executing production plans that optimize cost, efficiency, and capacity while meeting business needs. This role creates and maintains production schedules that align with customer demand and business objectives.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develops operations production plans to balance the supply forecast with cost, efficiency, and capacity constraints.
  • Develops and communicates daily master production schedule based on business needs.
  • Identifies and recommends opportunities to reduce costs.
  • Continuous development of inventory strategies to determine cost-effective use of inventory investment while maximizing inventory turns and meeting service level targets.
  • Identify and communicate any gaps/exceptions to supply plan, including proposed remediation options & recommendations.
  • Coordinate product supply remediation activities and perform root cause analytics on service & inventory defects for assigned categories.
  • Serve as Production planning subject matter expert on a variety of cross-functional project teams.
  • Collaborate and execute supply chain continuous improvement projects.
  • Partner with Supply Planners and Maintenance team to ensure key KPIs are met.
  • Expedites operations that delay schedules and alter schedules to meet unforeseen conditions.
  • Track and report KPI’s for production planning function to broader team.
  • Process and schedule downtime requests from cross-functional departments including Engineering and R&D
  • Collaborate with Materials Planning to ensure raw material supply plan meet production needs.


Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:

  • Proficient to expert user of Microsoft Excel
  • Working knowledge of supply chain and/or manufacturing principles and environments.
  • Excellent leadership, interpersonal skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Proven ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated enthusiasm, initiative, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, and willingness to adapt to changing circumstances.


Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, operations, engineering, or related discipline
  • 3+ years of experience in manufacturing, supply chain or food production industry
  • 3+ years of experience production and/or material planning.
  • Experience with ERP software, Atlas/John Galt preferred.


Work Environment:

Exposure to both the office setting and food manufacturing facility.

  • Significant amount of time working at a computer station
  • Occasional visits to various areas of the manufacturing floor
  • Must wear required PPE while in all manufacturing areas.
  • Moving parts and machinery are present in the plant.


Physical demands:

  • Frequent sitting, standing, or walking.
  • Occasional ability to lift to 50lbs.
  • Noise levels will vary; higher noise levels exist while in the manufacturing areas.
