Carbon Lehigh Intermediate Unit (CLIU)
The CLIU is seeking a visionary leader of CLIU’s Special Programs and Services Department, guiding the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of programs that advance equitable outcomes for students with disabilities. The Director directs and mentors administrators and instructional teams across CLIU, fostering innovation, rigorous classroom practice, and fiscal stewardship in compliance with federal, state, and organizational requirements. The Director acts as the primary liaison to PDE, community partners, and district leadership to anticipate emerging needs and expand the continuum of high-quality services
What you’ll do
- Lead & elevate programs – oversee all CLIU special-education services, ensuring rigorous planning, implementation, and continuous improvement in line with state and federal mandates.
- Innovate for impact – design, pilot, and implement programs that leverage technology, partnerships, and grants to meet student and district needs.
- Model best practice – conduct regular “Director in the Program” visits to classrooms to monitor program fidelity and develop relationships.
- Grow leaders – mentor IU and district administrators through a structured framework that fosters collaborative problem-solving and leadership development.
- Steward resources – supervise the development of annual departmental budgets, billing for services and monitor fiscal performance throughout the year in partnership with the Business Office.
- Ensure data integrity — oversee collection, validation, and accuracy of enrollment, cost, and program data to support transparent reporting, billing and accountability
What you’ll bring
- PDE Supervisor of Special Education certificate or Superintendent Letter of Eligibility.
- Master’s in Special Education (doctorate preferred) plus 5+ years of system-level supervisory experience, including budget and PDE compliance expertise.
- Proven record of instructional leadership, data-driven decision-making, and effective collaboration.
