About the team

The Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) Service is provided by a multidisciplinary team that collaborates with healthcare workers and patients to implement the Australian Commission for Safety and Quality in Health Care: Preventing and controlling infections standard.

 

About the role

The IPC Clinical Nurse Consultant is responsible for strengthening health outcomes by providing consultancy and promoting evidence-based practices that lead to safe, quality care. They work collaboratively in partnership with the Infectious Diseases (ID) and Antimicrobial Stewardship (AMS) teams, patients, consumers and other healthcare workers to meet the goals of the IPC program.

A regular day will see you:

  • Attending organisational huddles and meeting with working groups and clinicians
  • Auditing and reporting to promote IPC practices and providing education and coaching
  • Providing IPC recommendations and exposure management
  • Reviewing staff health, administering vaccinations and managing the cold chain
  • Consulting the evidence-base and updating frameworks, guidelines and procedures

 

About you

This role is suited to an approachable, skilled, dedicated and enthusiastic IPC Clinical Nurse Consultant who is at ease communicating both with heath consumers and the health workforce.
