Description:
The Meriden Public School District seeks applicants for a Climate Specialist. The Climate Specialist will report to the building principal and will assist is supporting a positive school environment.
Qualifications:
The Climate Specialist should have strong interpersonal skills, professionalism, and an ability to work with all students including students that require additional support in meeting behavioral expectations.
GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Climate Specialist will perform the following duties in cooperation with, and under the direction of the building administration.
- Support students in the acquisition of appropriate social, behavioral and academic skills
- Implement verbal management and de-escalation techniques.
- Participate in meetings involving students as appropriate or assigned by building principals.
- Communicate appropriately with students and staff.
- Employ Restorative Practices, Strategies to support PBIS, or other strategies that support a positive climate.
- Engage in mediation to assist students with conflict
- Performs all other duties as assigned by the Building Administration.
