- Deliver high-quality didactic and clinical instruction to predoctoral dental students, postdoctoral residents, and other learners in the field of oral and maxillofacial pathology.
- Develop and implement innovative teaching methods to enhance the learning experience of students.
- Mentor and advise students on research projects, clinical case presentations, and academic pursuits.
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Biopsy Service Lab, ensuring the efficient and accurate processing of biopsy specimens.
- Collaborate with laboratory staff to maintain the highest standards of quality control and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Continuously improve laboratory protocols and procedures to enhance diagnostic accuracy.
- Engage in scholarly activities, including original research, publications, and presentations at national and international conferences.
- Pursue external research funding opportunities to support research initiatives in the department.
- Collaborate with colleagues and students on research projects related to oral and maxillofacial pathology.
- Participate in departmental and university committees and provide leadership within the field of oral and maxillofacial pathology.
- Serve as a resource for clinicians and colleagues in the interpretation of biopsy results and the diagnosis of oral diseases.
- Contribute to community outreach and engagement efforts related to oral health education and prevention.
- Stay current with developments in the field of oral and maxillofacial pathology through continued education and participation in professional organizations.
- Foster a culture of academic and clinical excellence within the department.
- D.D.S. or D.M.D. degree from an accredited institution.
- Completion of an accredited Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology residency program.
- Board certification or eligibility for certification by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology.
- Eligibility for a dental license in the state of Pennsylvania.
- Demonstrated teaching experience and a commitment to education.
- Strong diagnostic skills and clinical expertise in oral and maxillofacial pathology.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative and diverse academic environment.
- Evidence of scholarly activity, including research publications and presentations.
- Prior experience in an academic setting, including teaching and mentoring students.
- Research expertise and a track record of securing research grants.
- Familiarity with modern laboratory techniques and technology in the field of oral pathology.
