About the White River State Park:
White River State Park boasts world-class attractions and destinations that offer distinctive experiences for every visitor. Greenspaces, trails, trees, and waterways co-mingle alongside cultural, educational, and recreational attractions across 250 beautiful acres in downtown Indianapolis.
Role Overview:
The Park Ambassador is the first impression of White River State Park and is responsible for creating an atmosphere where visitors feel welcome. The incumbent will answer inquiries about the park as well as the City of Indianapolis. The incumbent will be the point of sale for the gift shop. The incumbent must be responsible, dependable, and timely. This position will work approximately 15-20 hours per week.
Salary Statement:
The salary for this position traditionally starts at $14.17/hr but may be commensurate with education or work experience.
Primary Duties
- Welcome and greet all visitors
- Revenue generation: selling of gift shop merchandise
- Telephone communications
- Provide excellent customer service
- Administrative duties to support customer service
Job Requirements
- Must be available some weekdays, weekends, holidays, and evening shifts
- Must present a professional appearance
- Extensive knowledge of White River State Park and the City of Indianapolis.
- Professional experience in the customer service field.
Visitor Center Hours of Operation
January– February:
- Closed
March – December:
- Sunday: 12:00pm – 4:00pm
- Monday – Saturday: 11:00am – 5:00pm
During the summer concert season at the Everwise Amphitheater, the Visitor Center stays open until concert gates open. This is usually 7 p.m.
