The Maryland Food Bank (MFB) is a nonprofit, anti-hunger organization whose mission is to feed people, strengthen communities, and end hunger for more Marylanders. MFB does this work by expanding access to nutritious food while also seeking to eliminate the root causes of hunger.  

MFB’s distributes food through a statewide network of community-based organizations from Maryland’s western mountains to its Eastern Shore. Last year, the Maryland Food Bank distributed enough food to provide the equivalent of more than 41 million meals, or about 114,000 meals every day. This healthy food supports children, seniors, veterans, and hard-working families. 

MFB works to end hunger for more Marylanders by offering job training programs, access to supportive services and benefits, and by advocating to change to the laws, policies, and practices that create food insecurity for more than 1 in 3 Marylanders.

About the position:

The Mobile Market Driver supports the Maryland Food Bank’s Mobile Market Program by transporting and distributing food to assigned community sites. Responsibilities include loading/unloading vehicles, assisting with food distribution, and ensuring safe, clean operation of vehicles and equipment. As a frontline representative of MFB, the Driver engages with diverse partners and neighbors, demonstrating cultural sensitivity and upholding dignity and respect in every interaction.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Safely operate MFB vehicles to transport and distribute food at scheduled community sites.
  • Load, unload, and assist with food distribution while ensuring a respectful and inclusive experience for neighbors.
  • Maintain vehicle inspection logs and ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Represent MFB professionally at community events, supporting program operations and partner engagement.

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • Minimum of 3 years of customer service experience.
  • Valid driver’s license with no DUI/DWI convictions and fewer than 2 points on record.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen (including marijuana) and background check.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work respectfully with diverse communities and uphold equity, diversity, and inclusion.
  • Ability to multi-task, work independently, and take direction effectively.
  • Basic computer proficiency (email, word processing, remote meetings, internet navigation).

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience operating a non-CDL truck (training provided if not already obtained)
  • Work in warehouse and outdoor settings, including refrigerated areas below 30°F
  • Commitment to safe work practices in environments with moving equipment

 

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift/move up to 75 lbs. and operate an electric pallet jack to move heavy loads.

Pay Information: $20.00 - $21.00/ per hour.
