Position Overview
Reporting to the Director of Financial Reporting and Analytics, the Budget Manager is responsible for leading the Company’s financial quarterly forecast, annual budgeting process, operating plan variance analysis, and special projects. The Budget Manager will provide financial consulting and strategic support to executive management including preparing Board presentations, financial presentations, capital expenditure analysis, industry/peer group comparisons, and other projects requested by executive management. The role requires the ability to work effectively under tight deadlines, extreme attention to detail, and perform consistently accurate, high quality financial analysis.
Essential Job Functions
- Manage and support the process, methodology, concepts, and priorities of the annual budgeting and period forecasting functions
- Conduct analyses and reporting for corporate functions, including: monthly financials, budget to actual comparison, periodic forecasting, aggregated financial profitability, and graphical summaries of financial performance
- Monitor and analyze financial and operational data and performance indicators, highlighting trends, and analyzing causes of unexpected variance
- Analyze complex financial information and reports to provide accurate and timely financial recommendations to management for decision making purposes
- Perform periodic and ad hoc financial data analysis, queries, reconciliations, and reports as needed from the Board of Directors, Executive Team, or to satisfy external client or audit requests
- Understand, maintain, and continually improve budgeting, forecasting, and profitability processes, reports, tools and documentation which includes reviewing, validating, updating, and reconciling system data
- Work with the Company’s core systems including: Jack Henry SilverLake, Cognos, Axiom, Workiva, and Power BI
- Other tasks as requested
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or related field or equivalent experience/training
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a financial analyst role or equal experience in similar areas in the industry of Banking/Financial Services
- Prior accounting experience commensurate with the above Job Functions
- Communication skills to effectively, accurately, and concisely convey information, concepts, instructions, and ideas in oral, written and presentation formats to a variety of audiences
- Sound knowledge of financial analysis principles and methods
- Ability to understand, interpret, and analyze complex financial data and information and translate into reports and presentations for the appropriate audience
- Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to work effectively with others, resolving conflict and developing relationships
- Strong planning, organizing, and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines
- Knowledge of accounting and financial operations and processes
- Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Knowledge of computerized accounting/financial systems and how they are used in compiling, recording, and maintaining accounting/financial transactions and information
- Ability to tackle unfamiliar projects, assignments, and tasks with a positive attitude and influence and work in a support role
- Ability to work effectively in a dynamic and fast-paced environment with changing business priorities
- Ability to maintain and work discreetly with confidential information
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is in regular communication, is required to use various tools or objects, and has the mobility to move about the office. The employee occasionally lifts and/or moves objects up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position, and typical work hours and days are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Overtime may be required as job duties demand.
Travel
Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected.
