The School Nurse responsibilities include, but are not limited to: conducting a health services program at all the schools for the evaluation, improvement, and protection of the health of students for school personnel in accordance with State law and District policies and procedures in assessing student health. The selected candidate will be required to provide health counseling to students, parents, and staff and to make referrals as necessary; to assist in diagnostic placements and on-going health needs of special education students; to coordinate efforts for the prevention and control of communicable diseases within the District; to assess needs and make recommendation for policies and procedures; for the identification of students with chronic health problems and maintaining staff awareness of these problems; to serve as District resource for health curriculum; and to perform other duties as assigned. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: California Registered Nurse license and Bachelor’s degree (qualifies for the Preliminary School Nurse credential). DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS: • School nursing experience. • Better than average recommendations from other professionals regarding personal characteristics, scholastic attainment, and performance in the field of nursing. • Effective communication skills both oral and written. • Demonstrates commitment to professional growth, development, and motivation.
