Summary/Objective
The Staffing Coordinator provides for the function of staffing nursing units, and maintaining staffing and other records. The Nursing Directors remain responsible for 7 days a week / 24 hours a day unit staffing and scheduling. Works in conjunction with the unit and Nursing Directors for staffing. Performs a wide range of secretarial and support duties for the Nursing Department and Staffing Office.

- Performs designated staffing activities in support of Nursing Service Administration including answering telephones, staffing/scheduling, inputting staffing data and staffing sheets in accordance with staffing guidelines and applicable policies and procedures. Tracks and logs in and out equipment that issued throughout the hospital for patient needs i.e interpretive devices, wound vacs etc.
- Calls in staff when needed to fill vacant positions or cancels staff as patient care need and policy determine.
- Notifies Nursing Supervisor when needing direction for problems with staffing, patient complaints, physician requests, new admissions requiring beds, codes etc.Keeps Shift Supervisor/Unit Director abreast of any excessive tardiness, absences, call-ins or other potential problems and requests.
- Obtains patient charts from the Medical Records department on off shifts as requested by the Nursing Supervisor and deliver to the requesting units.Assists Nursing Supervisor with obtaining various patient supplies from central services and patient dietary staples as requested and deliver to requesting units.
- Maintains current knowledge of Hospital and Departmental Operational standards/Policies and Procedures to facilitate communication with personnel as needed.Assists in the Performance Improvement activities of the Nursing office with collection and collation of data.
- Completes and maintains logs, manuals and data bases and performs other clerical duties as directed
