Position Duties
The Town of Marana is seeking two Technology Support Specialist Interns to work in the Information Technology Department. This is an exciting opportunity for a hands-on learning experience for someone pursuing an associate’s degree or higher in Computer Engineering or related field. This internship offers the opportunity to apply academic knowledge in a professional setting, working alongside experienced technical staff in supporting and maintaining various technologies of the Town administrative systems.
While the Department will accommodate class schedules or other activities, the Intern is expected to work 15 - 19 hours per week to be scheduled during normal business hours: M-F 8:00 am – 5:00pm. Hours should be scheduled in blocks of at least three consecutive hours to ensure efficiency and consistency. The anticipated start date will be Fall 2025 with an anticipated end date of 12/12/2025, with potential for renewal for the Spring 2026 semester.
Pursuant to the Marana Town Code, Sections 3-1-2(D) and 3-1-3(B), and the current Salary Schedule implemented by the Town Manager, the position of Intern is defined as a temporary position. Temporary positions are at-will employees and employment that may be terminated upon the will of the employer or employee at any time with or without cause.
Hiring Rate: Undergraduate - $15.85/hour / Graduate School – $16.85/hour
This is an on-site role. Telework will not be permitted.
Minimum Qualifications
- Under direct supervision: Assists in providing PC support by updating and replacing software/hardware; configures new software; responds to issues.
- Under direct supervision: Provides telephone, infrastructure, and printer/copier support by setting up and configuring phones; troubleshooting printer issues; troubleshooting server applications.
- Under direct supervision: Coordinates and ensures effective communication with every team member; provides training and support to end users; and maintains knowledge of various computer, video and technical systems and equipment.
- Under direct supervision: Provides administrative support by creating and maintaining user accounts; maintains inventory of equipment; and researches new software and technologies.
Other Qualifications
- Currently pursuing an Associate/Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Engineering, or closely related field at an accredited college/university
- Must reside within approximately 50 miles of the Ed Honea Marana Municipal Complex and be able to work a minimum of 15 on-site hours per week during normal business hours.
An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience that provides the desired knowledge, skills & abilities to successfully perform essential functions may be considered.
Additional Requirements:
- Valid Arizona Driver License.
- Must complete a pre-employment physical including a 25-pound lift test.
- Complete both the Town of Marana background check and a motor vehicle records check.
- Must pass fingerprint clearance background check.
