Saint Paul Catholic School is looking for a qualified Preschool Teacher to prepare children under the age of 5 for Prekindergarten by using creative methods such as art, music, and hands-on learning. A Preschool teacher must have a great love and patience for children. Qualifications needed to teach them effectively include knowledge of best practices and Preschool educational methods as well as the ability to engage students and earn their trust and attention. The goal is to contribute to the healthy mental and emotional development of the child so they can thrive in their next level of education.
Responsibilities:
Implements inquiry based preschool curriculum and creates novel lesson plans.
Supervises and teaches preschool students.
Supervises preschool aides in their interaction and instruction to preschool students.
Employs a variety of educational techniques (storytelling, guided play, movement, etc.) to teach children.
Adapts classroom work to provide students with instructional materials that enhance each individual student's learning plan.
Observes each child to help them improve their social-emotional growth.
Guides children to develop their artistic and practical capabilities through enriching learning experiences.
Tracks children’s progress and reports to parents.
Collaborates with other educators.
Maintains a clean and tidy classroom consistent with health and safety standards (proper and consistent sanitation, regular handwashing of staff and students, etc.)
Facilitates preschool student's instruction (e.g. art, science, music, housekeeping, story time, movement activities, etc.) to improve the student's academic success and transition to elementary school.
Monitors students in a variety of educational environments (e.g. classroom, playground, field trips, nap times, etc.) for providing a safe and positive learning environment.
Ensures compliance with program requirements.
Skills:
Proven experience as a Preschool, PreKindergarten, or Elementary Teacher.
Excellent understanding of the principles of child development and preschool educational methods.
Familiarity with safety and sanitation guidelines for classrooms .
Excellent communication and instructional skills.
Ability to act as mediator between children.
Cool-tempered, friendly, and reliable.
Certification in child CPR (or willing to become certified).
BSc/BA in education or relevant field.
Must be able to bend and stoop to the average height of a child age 5 and younger.
Requirements:
Teaching degree or certificate in early childhood education
Ability to develop lesson plans that meet educational standards
Familiarity with classroom management skills
Submit to a criminal background check and Virtus training upon hire
