POSITION SUMMARY:This role is responsible for the development and optimization of coatings (paints, stains) and their application processes across the Andersen product portfolio. By collaborating closely with design and operations teams, this role will lead material and process development initiatives focused on coatings technologies to be implemented at our manufacturing facilities. These projects will target improvements in cost efficiency, product quality, and performance. The ideal candidate is highly motivated and passionate, with a strong technical background and a proven track record in developing, optimizing, and implementing materials and processes for various applications. Strong technical expertise, leadership skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment are essential.PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:Lead coatings technology projects and provide strategic recommendations to stakeholders and technical leaders on solution viability to meet business objectivesTest and validate new coating materials in production environmentsSupport the implementation of new coating processes within manufacturing operationsCollaborate with suppliers to influence and guide the development of innovative coating solutionsDesign, execute, analyze, and report on experimental studies and evaluations of new coating technologiesCoordinate project activities with internal engineering teams across the organizationPartner with cross-functional materials teams (e.g., glass, wood, treat, adhesives, composites) to ensure cohesive solutionsMonitor industry trends and emerging technologies, assessing their potential application within Andersen productsProvide technical expertise for materials-related inquiries, training, and specification developmentServe as a key technical liaison for both internal and external manufacturing partnersDrive continuous improvement initiatives using statistical tools and methodologies such as Design of Experiments (DOE), process mapping, capability analysis, Pugh matrices, FMEA, MSA, and control plansTravel 10-20%  QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:MUST-HAVE QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related engineering discipline3+ years of engineering or technical experience in coatings processes, including development and/or testingStrong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with a hands-on approach to technical challengesProven experience in project management and working within collaborative, cross-functional teamsSolid understanding of product development principles and practicesExcellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships and present effectively across all levels of the organizationStrong mechanical aptitude and a practical understanding of manufacturing environmentsProficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)Experience with statistical analysis tools such as Minitab, JMP, or equivalentNICE-TO HAVE QUALIFICATIONS:Working knowledge of coatings, with exposure to other materials (adhesives, wood, composites, metals)Experience in the fenestration industry or a related manufacturing sectorStrong analytical skills or experience in materials analysis techniquesCOMPENSATION: Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to work experience, education, geographic location, certifications, etc. Your recruiter can share more about the specific compensation package for your preferred role during the hiring process.
