Overview:

Location: Quincy, IL
Pay Range: $16.12 - $24.18 per hour | Based on Relevant Experience
Schedule: Full-Time, Monday – Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm

About the Role:
As a Financial Counselor in our Endocrinology department, you will provide vital support to patients by coordinating pre-certification and prior authorization with insurance carriers, assisting with patient financial resources, and guiding patients through their financial responsibilities. This role requires a strong focus on customer service, problem-solving, and working closely with patients, insurance companies, and internal teams to ensure financial processes run smoothly.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Initiate and coordinate pre-certification and prior authorization for patients with their insurance carrier.

  • Answer patient and insurance company inquiries related to pre-certification and coverage.

  • Counsel patients regarding financial responsibilities and available assistance programs.

  • Assist patients in enrolling in patient assistance programs, co-pay cards, grants, and other financial aid.

  • Process insurance information and forms, ensuring accuracy and compliance.

  • Work with resources to track denials, submit appeals, and obtain drug replacement or grant support as needed.

  • Maintain detailed and accurate records while adhering to confidentiality and compliance standards.

  • Other duties as assigned to support patient financial services and departmental operations.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required.

  • Six months to one year of related experience and/or training, including customer service; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Knowledge of medical terminology and medical insurance preferred.

  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
