Scion is paving a path in student living and we’re seeking a Corporate Director, Community Security to join us in executing our vision.
The Corporate Director of Community Security leads the security strategy, operations, and risk management across all Scion communities. This role ensures the safety of residents, staff, and property assets through proactive security planning, team leadership, and collaboration with local law enforcement and stakeholders.

Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Management
- Lead and manage security personnel, third-party vendors, and courtesy officers.
- Develop and mentor security teams to ensure professional growth and high performance.
- Implement training, mentorship programs, and ongoing professional development.
Security Assessment & Operations
- Conduct comprehensive security assessments to identify vulnerabilities.
- Oversee passive security measures (CCTV, access control, lighting, locking systems).
- Manage active security operations, including patrols, rapid response, and emergency readiness.
- Develop and implement protocols for incident response and crisis management.
Strategic Planning & Compliance
- Create long-term security plans tailored to each community’s needs.
- Manage the security budget and optimize resources cost-effectively.
- Ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and industry standards.
- Stay current with emerging security technologies and best practices.
Community Engagement
- Build strong relationships with residents, staff, law enforcement, and stakeholders.
- Conduct security awareness programs and maintain proactive communication.
- Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Data & Continuous Improvement
- Collect, analyze, and report security data to identify trends and improvements.
- Review and update policies, procedures, and training programs regularly.
- Foster innovation and adoption of emerging best practices across communities.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Security Management, Criminal Justice, or related field.
- 7+ years of experience in security or law enforcement management.
- 5+ years of experience managing people and multi-site security operations.
- Strong knowledge of security principles, technologies, and best practices.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience in crisis management, risk assessment, and strategic planning.
Operational Details
- Job location is based at the Chicago Headquarters
- Location: 401 N. Michigan Ave Ste. 0400, Chicago, IL 60611
- Working hours consist of standard daytime business operating hours
The base salary range for this full-time position is $150,000-$185,000 + bonus + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
