QUALIFICATIONS:
Must hold or be eligible for the NJDOE Teacher of English certification or NJDOE Teacher of Mathematics certification.
DESCRIPTION:
The In-School Intervention Instructor is responsible for delivering instructional support to students assigned to the In-School Intervention Room during the instructor's scheduled prep period. The instructor will work closely with the school administration and teachers to ensure that students continue their academic progress while addressing behavioral issues. The role involves providing academic instruction, reinforcing positive behaviors, and guiding students toward successful reintegration into the regular classroom environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Instructional Support: Deliver academic instruction aligned with the curriculum to students in the In-School Intervention Room, ensuring they keep up with their coursework.
- Behavioral Guidance: Provide guidance and mentorship to students, helping them understand the consequences of their actions and encouraging positive behavior changes.
- Collaboration: Work collaboratively with teachers to obtain assignments, materials, and information necessary to support students' academic progress.
- Monitoring Progress: Track and report student progress, both academically and behaviorally, to relevant staff members and administration.
- Classroom Management: Maintain a structured and supportive learning environment within the In-Schooll Intervention Room.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of attendance, assignments completed, and behavioral notes, providing reports to the administration as required.
- Crisis Management: Respond effectively to behavioral issues or crises, utilizing de-escalation techniques and reporting incidents according to school policy.
- Experience working with students who exhibit challenging behaviors is highly preferred.
SKILLS: - Strong classroom management skills and ability to handle disruptive behavior constructively.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with students, parents, and staff.
- Ability to adapt instructional methods to meet the individual needs of students.
- Proficient in using educational technology and learning management systems.
- Patience, empathy, and a strong commitment to student success.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and in challenging situations.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
REMUNERATION:
Remuneration will be in accordance with the current KEA contract.
