Hybrid Student Conductor chez Modern Machinery Co., Inc.

What you will do:

• Oversee train and railcar movement, including switching between yards and customer facilities.
• Adhere to railroad rules and regulations, observing hand and radio signals in the yard.
• Operate track switches and perform coupling/uncoupling procedures.
• Ensure safety by applying hand brakes on railcars when not in use.
• Obtain necessary permissions and authorities for operations.
• Work outdoors in various weather conditions, walking extended distances over uneven terrain.
• Fulfill additional duties as assigned by management.

What you will bring:

• Minimum grade 12 diploma or equivalent GED.
• Valid and clean BC driver’s license, minimum Class 5.
• Availability for any shift, 24/7, including holidays.
• Comfortable with large equipment and moving railcars.
• Passion for outdoor work, regardless of weather conditions.
• Ability to prioritize safety in an industrial environment.

Training and Advancement:

• Candidates with little to no experience will undergo our comprehensive in-house Conductor Training Program.
• Accelerated advancement opportunities based on relevant experience.

Additional Information:

• Each class will consist of a maximum of four (4) hires

All new hires will undergo reference and criminal record checks, pre-employment physical and medical evaluations, including drug screening, and complete an online personnel questionnaire.
