This role provides critical analytical and operational support to the Principal Investigator on the closeout of a five-year cooperative agreement funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention focused on the evaluation of an intervention to prevent educator sexual misconduct in K-12 schools. The Research Scientist should be able to provide subject matter expertise in child sexual abuse prevention, preferably in school-based settings.
Position Responsibilities:
Key responsibilities includes management of the federal closeout reporting requirements, including:
- Contextualizing key findings from a mixed method study that includes longitudinal surveys, content analysis of school policies, and interviews with school leadership;
- Reporting on data management processes and developing protocols for public access to study data.
- Supervising staff in translating research findings into plain language reports for participating schools that include evidence-informed recommendations grounded in health behavior change theory.
Required Qualifications:
- Masters degree in public health, education, or related field
- Ability to manage research projects, to analyze and interpret data, to make conclusions and plan strategically.
- Ability to maintain detailed documentation in a variety of mediums.
- Ability to work independently as well as demonstrated ability to work professionally and efficiently within a research group.
- Subject matter expertise in child sexual abuse prevention
- Proficiency in qualitative and quantitative data analysis
- Demonstrated ability to work in and foster an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Doctoral degree in public health, education, or related field
- Experience evaluating school-based interventions
This is a restricted position with no set end date and continued employment is dependent upon project need, availability of funding, and performance. The end date for this role is 09/30/2025.
