Hybrid Data Center Technician chez Pomeroy

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Data Center Technician to support our infrastructure operations team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with rack and stack installations, cabling, and working with a variety of server and storage hardware. This role requires a strong technical foundation and the ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform physical installation of IT hardware including servers, storage, and networking equipment (rack and stack).
• Install and troubleshoot copper and fiber cabling to industry standards.
• Support and maintain server hardware from major vendors including HP, Dell, Sun/Oracle, and IBM.
• Manage and maintain storage systems including NetApp and Dell/EMC platforms.
• Configure and support Cisco switches and networking equipment as required.
• Document and track tasks using Service Manager or other ticketing systems.
• Use Microsoft Office tools for documentation, reporting, and communication.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Hands-on experience with rack and stack operations in a data center or server room environment.
• Proficiency in copper and fiber cabling installation and troubleshooting.
• Working knowledge of server hardware: HP, Dell, Sun/Oracle, and IBM.
• Experience with enterprise storage systems including NetApp and Dell/EMC.
• Familiarity with Cisco switches and basic networking configurations.
• Experience with IT ticketing systems (Service Manager or similar platforms).
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).

Preferred Qualifications:

• Industry certifications (CompTIA, Cisco, Microsoft, etc.) are a plus.
• Previous experience working in an enterprise data center environment.

Work Environment:

• Ability to lift and move equipment up to 50 lbs.
• Occasional evening or weekend work may be required during maintenance windows.
