Position Overview
As the Automotive Parts Director, you will take a leadership role in managing and optimizing the parts department at Space City Toyota. With a minimum of 7 years of experience as a Parts Director in a high-volume automotive dealership, you’ll be responsible for driving operational efficiency, inventory management, and team performance. Your leadership will directly impact our profitability and service levels, ensuring we remain a top choice for Toyota owners in the Humble area.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and Develop: Supervise, train, and motivate the parts team to achieve company goals and maintain exceptional performance standards
- Optimize Inventory: Ensure parts inventory turns at agreed-upon intervals, minimizing waste and obsolescence while meeting demand
- Analyze Performance: Use data to analyze sales, expenses, and inventory trends, ensuring the department meets or exceeds profit targets
- Collaborate with Service: Work closely with the Service Director to ensure timely availability of parts for internal service jobs and proper reconciliation of work in process at the end of each month
- Special Orders Management: Enforce company policy for special orders, maintain an accurate tracking system, and ensure special order performance is above company guidelines.
- Implement Systems & Procedures: Lead the implementation of new policies, procedures, and systems to improve department operations and enhance customer service.
- Provide Technical Support: Offer guidance and technical assistance to parts department employees on complex issues
- Oversee Sales Operations: Manage parts sales, including counter and wholesale operations, to ensure consistent revenue generation
- Maintain Reports: Ensure timely and accurate daily reporting, including key performance indicators and inventory metrics
Qualifications:
- 7+ years of experience in automotive parts management with at least 3 years in a senior leadership role
- Strong leadership and people management skills, with a proven ability to motivate teams and manage processes effectively
- Deep understanding of parts operations and inventory management in a high-volume dealership setting
- Provide administrative and organizational support to the wholesale department.
- Use specialized systems such as Collision Link, Repair Link, OPS, Trax, PSX and Parts Trader.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Reynolds & Reynolds experience is a plus
- Toyota experience is a plus
- Exceptional organizational and analytical skills, with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working cross-departmentally
