Summary
The Secretary - Attendance and Special Education Support is responsible for maintaining accurate student attendance records, assisting with state reporting, and providing clerical support for special education services. This role requires attention to detail, confidentiality, and strong organizational and communication skills.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Attendance Responsibilities:
Monitor and record daily student attendance in the student information system.
Communicate with parents/guardians regarding absences, tardies, and early check-outs.
Prepare and distribute daily and monthly attendance reports.
Special Education Support:
Maintain and update special education data in compliance with DESE/MOSIS reporting requirements.
Input, organize, and file student records, including eligibility documentation and service logs.
Track timelines for evaluations, re-evaluations, and IEP reviews.
Support compliance monitoring and audit preparation.
Collaborate with the Process Coordinator and School Psychologist to maintain accurate student rosters and service minutes.
General Office Duties:
Answer phones and greet visitors in a professional and courteous manner.
Maintain confidentiality of student information in compliance with FERPA.
Assist with document preparation, copying, scanning, and filing as needed.
Support teachers and staff with clerical tasks related to attendance or special education.
Perform other duties as assigned by building or district administrators.
Supervisory Duties
Directs the activities of students who work in the office
